Religious Trauma, Deconstruction, and the Meaning Crisis

What do humans need to be existentially healthy?

This episode of The Sacred Everywhere features Jim Palmer. Jim and I met a couple of years ago at ORTCON (Open & Relational Theology Conference, and I’ll be speaking there again next week.

We covered a lot of ground in part 1, including:

* Jim’s journey from megachurch pastor to an expert on religious trauma and deconstruction

* Meaning and existential health

* What are the core components of existential health?

In part 2 we:

* Went deeper into the idea of if there is objective meaning in the world

* Talked about the 10 Religious Ideas We No Longer Need to Believe

* The human problems that religious ideas try to solve

* The fact that those human problems don’t go away when we shed religious baggage and/or traditions
